Audition portal//

IMAGINE LIVE is a stage adaptation of Alison Lester’s beloved book IMAGINE first published by Allen and Unwin in 1989

Welcome to the IMAGINE LIVE audition portal, we can’t wait to meet you in person! On this page you’ll find everything you need to know about performing in this beautiful show including downloadable scenes, sheet music and video content.

Please note that the images are a guide only, all roles are can be any gender, age, or background and more than anything we would love to see your own personal take on them. We understand that auditioning can sometimes be a stressful and time-consuming process so please don’t hesitate to contact us on the link below if you require anything to make the process work better for you, particularly our friends from the disability community.

IMAGINE LIVE was created on the lands of the Boonwurrung peoples and we gratefully acknowledge their deep connection to this special place

“We treat auditions like a rehearsal room. Come prepared and try to leave expectations at the door. Feel empowered to ask questions, explore even restart, this is your time and if you shine we all shine. Above all this show is about play and like play it can be vast and intimate, transformative and ridiculous. We don’t expect you to have lines down but bring your toy box and know what you want to play with.”

WHAT TO EXPECT//

CAST//

OLIVE: They are obsessed with creativity. Olive sees creative opportunities in everything… everywhere, in fact nothing is ever what it seems. They are playful, sensory seeking and in the moment. They never leave home without their scissors and their happy place is an ancient olive tree in their back yard they have known all their life.

Olive believes the book IMAGINE is ALL about imagination.

FALCON: Falcon is an expert on the natural world. They care deeply about the environment and would love nothing better than to meet and document every living thing on the planet. If they could travel back in time to meet a t-rex they would. They are happiest when they are exploring and they never leave home without their binoculars.

Falcon believes the book IMAGINE is ALL about animals.

COCKY: If Olive and Falcon were batteries, cocky would be the torch that makes them shine. Cocky loves nothing better than to bring Olive and Falcons world to life through puppetry, play, animation and music. Their happy place is the theatre, they love a good prop and never leave home without their friends.

Cocky believes the book IMAGINE is for everyone.

MUSE: IMAGINE LIVE features the rich complex compositions of Nate Gilkes. The music is vast and layered and requires a skilled and experienced musician to bring it to life. It is important that Muse is always visible and can connect and inspire a young audience.
